It's all happening at the 100 Club..

Draw a big red ring around this Thursday: July 14th,  for a night of glam anthems and black leather beats as The Wolfmen launch and play live - tunes and tracks from their summery sounding new LP Married to the Eiffel Tower. Of course there'll also be some old faves from Modernity and also a few exclusive doings for this one night only.

Bringing some high speed angular clang to the bill are long-haul favourites around these parts - Silvery. Along with some special guests and DJ spots we can't mention - all brought to you by the good people at Vive le Rock magazine.

If you're local to old London Town - polish up rocking boots and I'll see you Oxford Street way this Thursday.

If you haven't experienced The Wolfmen's live wall of wallop - be prepared for this style of thunderous rumbles - Thieves and Liars which is on the set-list: all Bhangra beats and two-fisted riffing..

To taste another new tune - redirect your ears to Radio Podrophenia tonight from 9, where The Wolfmen's July 20 is on the playlist - a playlist fitted around this week's theme of 'Time'. Or for some back catalogue  - grab this limited edition cover of Eno's solo opener

I Quite Like Silvery

I've been getting in a fizz and a froth about Silvery and their Sparks/XTC hurdy-gurdy style jiggery-poppery for some while now, and it all seems to be coming together for them as speedily as quicksilver. Here's the news - and it's all good...

They've been played on Radcliffe and Maconie

Steve Lamacq's been raving about them in his Blog - and had them in session on his show.

The new album 'Thunderer & Excelsior' is out on the 11th, and will be featured as 6 Music's Album Of The Day on the 12th ( the'Devil In The Detail' single was also the winner of a recent 6 music Round Table )

The band have been invited to play at Rough Trade East's first Birthday Celebrations on August 15th

So if you are in the Brick Lane area on the 15th why not pop along and have a peep? The Silvery surfers always put on a fast and furious live set - it's like a gig, only on fast forward - where you'll be able to lend an ear and shake a leg to tunes like...

Electro And Retro At Blow Up Metro

What a tip top night at Blow Up on Saturday..

The mighty Baltic Fleet - with their walloping wall of synth sounds - like Bowie's 'Berlin' period meets Boards of Canada pumped on Red Bull.

The shiny new Silvery and those infectious high octane hurdy-gurdy anthems.

The funktastic Bongolian dishing up non stop grooveadelic delights.

And ....I even got to spin a few winners between the bands. Marvellous.
A couple of the tracks I was hoping to fire up, never quite made it - so here they are now.

I'd had 'Hard Luck (Again') lined up in my head to play but because of a momentary memory meltdown thought it was called 'Billy's Third' and fired that up by mistake. Whoops.

And this little winner was lined up for later, but it turned out to be too scratched to play. Ooops.

Umm the above link seems to be dead - probably worn out from being downloaded 7500 times - so here's a working one

Silvery Sparklers

Hurrah for Silvery. I first picked up on them over at Pileys place (he's got a tip top Pickwick/Top of the Pops records feature running at the moment too).

Silvery are everything you hope for in a new band. They're young. They like people I like - Bowie, Sparks, XTC. They've got smart jackets and even smarter tunes with all the clang and spangle you could want and they're playing this Saturday at Blow Up Metro on a double bill with The Bongolian (one of my fave albums of last year). I'll certainly be there raising a glass and shaking a leg. But until then have a peep at their new single 'Horrors', released as a double A side with 'Orders' - it's my single of the year already, and we're not even out of January yet.

PS - If you're at the Silvery/Bongolian gig and see a chap in polka dot cravat - do come and say hello. It'll be me.
