Two Current Affairs shows, two themes tunes - but, do you know which is what?
Apologies to international viewers, the under thirties, or anyone that may find these UK TV motifs as alien as Esperanto ...
The Good Word (it's 'official' title) - The Scottmen
I won't give any clues to this one -

Yes. Nationwide and Weekend World (with Brian Waldron who had an unfortunate name for someone who had a Wossy Wer and couldn't pwonounce his W's pwoporly).
Half right OP, Nationwide - yes, (Michael Barrett, Sue Lawley and Bob (Langley?, or was he from Pebble Mill at One)
But Romo's nailed them both - Nationwide and Weekend World, (I vaguely remember WW from the Peter Jay pre-Walden era, didn't understand word though, being Infant School age)
You can read the World In Action theme story here - worth a peep, as the composer was stiffed out of all potential royalties, and some of the keyboards are played by Wynder K Frog
Weekend World is an extract from Mountain's progathon piece Nantucket Sleighride
Obviously I had no clue, but it was still cool to hear them. So what do they do on these shows?
Dave, I actually have that album youve featured a pic of, on vinyl....
yup, i had (erm, make that STILL have!) that very same album too, and many more sililar ones to boot. Was always particularly keen on the Western one for some reason, and the James Bond soundalike album was a winner too.
Always thought weekend world was a rocker of a tune, yet the programme was dull as ditchwater (well to a 8 or 9 year old me it was!)
P
Nationwide was regional and national news Keith, Weekend World was a head to head between a Politcian and an interviewer - and as P says very dull, but with a great almost punky theme tune..
Yeah, I've got this and the other one on vinyl too, both from charidee shops and inner sleeve's are both smoke-stained-misty-buff colour
This one was the third LP I ever bought; long since gone to The Great Charity Shop In The Sky, unforch.
Big Action Themes - textbook. There's a few more Charity Shop classics here too
