Your first musical post that is - and what the trigger, tune or track was that got you fired up enough to start blogging and cataloging the collection ?
One number did it for me. An instrumental obscurity, that randomly dropped into play by a group, who, ironically, have rarely popped up on my player since, and have never been captured on the blog - apart from my first ever MP3 post that is..
So who was it? Soft Cell, that's who.
Given this, The Cell, seem well overdue for another punt on the PM blog. Tarred forever with the Tainted Love brush, it's too easy to forget what a rabid and devoted following they developed, that they were too shadowy and almost sleazy to sit comfortably alongside other eighties glossy Top of the Poppers. Or what quality pop they produced.

I can't remember and I blew my original blog away in a fit of depression in the middle of last year. Checking on the current blog it appears to have been a Julian Bream documentary on BBC4... there now that was possibly not what people were expecting
I have no clue. My Dino Lounge blog is about Dean Martin and the Rat Pack. I obviously was inspired by them to start my own blog.
F/Ron - that wouldn't have been the Yentob Documentary about the history of the guitar would it?
Keith - what about Sugar and Spice was there something that kicked the idea off for you?

great great track, and sounds fresh as ever. Not much from the early 80's stands up as well as Soft Cell. How about the original Memorabilia? That would still work in a club, no danger. Years ahead of its time.

it took me a while to work out all the hows and whats of getting tunes on dusty7s but in the end it was hello stranger by barbara lewis that set things rolling and it may well still be the best thing on there

My first track I blogged was Midget Submarine by Swell Maps. I used to know Epic Soundtracks back in the day. That song is astonishingly good, but they never really did anything that good again. Actually I loved it so much, I blogged it twice, as I remember.

RE - Isn't it just? What a tune, I don't know The Swell Maps - I think I always got them mixed up with A Certain Ratio (did they were raincoats?)

Have you got 'Non Stop' the first album - it's treat from end to end, and loaded with extras if you get the CD. Watch out for more 80s related bits and bobs tomorrow
