Funky Friday - Warp Factor Funk Mr Sulu

I am very tempted with new Star Trek film. But I'm not a Trekkie. Alright I had a mad buzz for the show when the BBC aired their five year mission of interplanetery hullabaloos during the seventies (or repeated them during school holidays) even going so far as tucking my school trousers into zip-up boots trying to replicate that 'Enterprise' look - but I loved all things space-shaped back then.

And some supplementary material may have been collected while sprouting from tot-to-teen - Annuals (73-78), fold-out poster mag's, Letraset Action Transfers,View Master reels, an Airfix-style model, and Mego action figures (Kirk and Scotty) - but I'm over it now. See!

*Remembers he has the communicator tone for txt messages on his phone - reacts with this style of a face then faints..*

The Geoff Love Orchestra - Star Trek
Scanners indicate an easy-listening orchestra giving the opening theme a disco dressage

Nichelle Nichols - Feeling Good
Proto-blue toother, Uhuru takes almost one full minute to get up to soul speed, but it's well worth the wait

Leonard Nimoy - The Ballad Of Bilbo Baggins
Bones to Bridge. Jim, that song of Spock's isn't actually as excruciating as we'd expected - although the video could cause some sort of a reaction I guess

*Cue offstage screams of 'Cap'n,I canna take any more '*

Kirk to Enterprise. Beam down The Beasties Boys...

Communicator Beeps

PS did you know Chekov's hairstyle was based on a Beatle cut

I love Star Trek. The good and the bad of it. I definitely plan to see the new movie. Great clips. Live long and prosper.

And this Davy

I love the Original series Ally, but couldn't get on with much of the other stuff - apart from the cartoon - (and who was that bloke with the wonky neck)

Forgotten all about that phrase Keith - can you do the hand action too

PS William Shatner will be beaming in, along with torch songstress, for couple of covers next week..

You just made my day with the mental picture the Star Trek pants you made for yourself as a little boy. So adorable. Also, I love the Beasties... xo

I've jut remembered Gabbi - I also had some cardboard cut out and keep 'Spock Ears' that appeared on the back of a cereal box

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the first two series of StarTrek (I think I've even lost track now of how many spin-offs there actually are).

Anyway, was listening to Nichelle Nichols this afternoon and it's suprisingly good. Unlike Leonard Nimoys offering I'm afraid. What WAS he on?

Great isn't, the albums a bit slow in places though - and don't forget to check back for Shatner track next week...

I'm a complete mug for ST movies, except for the first one which was a bore. BTW I've nicked those beeps!

How weird! All these years i've known you i thought you WERE a ST fan... why did I think that?? Did you big it up more than you remember in the 80s perhaps?? This has rocked my world PM!

Col what's the one with the Whales - that's my fave,Oh, and the one with the heartbreaking Spock's death scene...

P - Don't get me wrong I am a fan of ST but only TOS, not really the others. And as much as I love it - I'm nowhere near the trekkie style fanorak

Star Trek 4!!! The worst of the trek films surely?!! It made me cringe even then with all the 'buddy-buddy' humour that the threw in... embarrassing! The whale was the best actor in it... a natural..
