Funky Friday - Lucky Sevens

What a lazy lucky bugger - that's two guest-bits on the bounce now! This week we've got the fantabulosa Miss Ally - all the way from Dusty 7s doing the honours. You can catch Ally in action spinning winners like these at the 99p Soul Sessions tomorrow night - details down below. So enough of my ol' cyber-babble let's hand over to Ally...

The second my greedy eyes gobbled up that picture up there that little roger all super studious modded up good and taking notes people - taking goddammn notes i thought of dear old mondo. never met the blighter never laid my minces on his dolly old eek (it's polari darlings - get with the lessons over my gaff if you're that way inclined) never seen so much as photograph but he was there right there just how i thought of him out by the seaside with his little record player and his little notebook all super studious and modded up good. and when i got the nod for a guest spot (with my reputation i know...)this was the tune i thought should be playing on that little record machine. only it's off of a twelve inch obviously which doesn't quite fit and it's from 1971 (well the original is mines a 1980's reissue) which doesn't either but hey we all know he likes his acid jazz and his organ grooves so i do so hope he likes this

Like it? I've been a'shuffling around the kitchen to it ever since you mailed me Ally - scorching stuff. And bang on with your mental picture of our ol' pad. There is a little record player, and a Union Jack based print on the kitchen wall (viewable on my Facebook pic's)

Very nice. Did somebody hip-hoppy sample this? If not, they sure should've. Lavs x

i did mean to go on a bit more about the whole how we visualise the folks we've come to know over years of reading their stuff but kind of got distracted by some bourbon and what with one thing and another...

It's that instrumental versh - Davy sounds very famil'. Speaking of sampling I've used a Brady Bunch tune in our next podcast (recorded last night) great beats at the intro - although Piley suggested it sounded like a drummer falling down a staircase.

Oh I could do with a bourbon or two Ally. Yes know what you mean about the mental picture - most bloggers I've met aren't how I imagined them at all.

Love it Ally. What more could a man want other than a funky bass line and a Hammond Organ.

I always find that I'm shorter than I imagined I would be.

Great track - as expected from such a fine purveyor of tunes. And curse the 'German theme night' I have to go to tomorrow instead of your knees-up. Do another!

And Mr Mondo 'most bloggers I've met aren't how I imagined them at all'?? Oh there are many questions that one could open up!

Yes - I suddenly realised it sounded wrong after I'd pressed 'publish'. It's all good though Cocktails and really to do with height - people being a different from expectation . FC was taller than I remembered. Ally, Suzy N and you were all taller than expected. Romo was shorter.

Do I right in a 'short' style then?! Love it!

I always though you wrote in short hand - boom, boom.

Perhaps it's me getting confused, but I thought I'd read references to 'being short' on your blog.

Well, I'm short compared to Piley!

Mond, when you're in a hole, stop digging.

This is me expressed through the medium of 70s children's television and the soundtrack is bang on..
