The Belgian trip was a deathly early start and parked up in Brugge by mid-morning, so can you imagine what grave-quaking hour I must have been pulled from my pit to set off on a rattle-about coach. And two smashed windows in one week. First on the 15th (not mentioned) - in the Arts Festival heats. I'd been doing some wiry flailing as a fidgety impression of Johnny Rotten, miming to Satellite and somehow (God only knows how) ended up lumping a slatty ventilation window out if it's fixings, sending it shattering to the ground two floors below. We didn't qualify for the next round of heats..
Records bought included Crass (possibly Stations of the Crass ), Simon Templar/Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Please - and from Woolworths, Christine when the singles were racked on the shelves in their chart positions..

Low-level (and non) charters bagged were Human League, The Plasmatics, Discharge - and the Pistols. Although just over a year on from buying my first Pistols single, and the darker, saltier antics of Crass and Discharge - fatigue from Virgin's flogging a dead horse ethics were setting in. A welcome return for the classic series. It's the incidental things I love: Weds 5th - 'Dave Wright had a nose bleed'.
OMD's 'Messages' would have been my most played thing in that singles chart. And 'Rat Race'. Didn't buy any of that punk stuff!
I loved a bit of Lectro. OMD's Electricity was always on the spin. And the League too - have a peep at the top left scribble on the lined paper. H.League on Tommy Vance apparently..
Dave Wright, one of my closest friends (his name is always on the DDs) had a family which were a real set of characters. His older brother Sid made the local paper a few years back
I recently re-acquired a copy of Della And The Dealer by Hoyt Axton. It was on one of my dad's country music compilation cassettes and I loved the imagery in it - a dog carrying a gun being one of them.
Really good to see the diary's return. On the 24th June 1980 I visited the RNLI station at Bridlington with my infant three year. I remember it clearly as we later had our photo in the local paper posing next to a boat, and a lad in my class whose birthday it was got to wear the lifejacket at the front.

By the way, it just struck me as very sweet that though the bloke on Fun Factory had SAID "bollocks,mate" out loud, you would only write it in the dainty 'B-LL-CKS' form!
