Radio Podrophenia - Music for Mentalists
The March Madness edish of Podrophenia is up for download, and it's possibly our most eccentric session yet.. Mae West goes Rock ‘n’ Roll. Petula Clark goes disco, Reginald Bosanquet goes funky, Hawkwind get schlagerd and there's a space-pop nugget wherein aliens land looking for new life in Northampton!See the info-tainment clip on the single below...
Special guest Grant Philpott brings in some of his spoken word mash-ups (including Jimmy Smith meets Mark E Smith and Pam Ayres with Roy Ayres) and talks about his television work on The Word, the Big Breakfast and his ten years on TV Burp…
There's Essex Films, Kitchen bands and Shart songs - and an 8 bit quiz based around rock classics getting digitised All here, all yours and all free

Happy Neu! Year
Happy New Year all you bloggers and browsers. Stepping softly and slowly into 2011, how about a couple of nicicles to add a frosted glaze to the goings on: two Teutonic tunes from art rockers Neu! - fitting the fluish, foggy mood of the mo'
The brisk, beaty and wintery instrumental of Isi (with an under-bubble of Deck the Halls) is something that soundtracked my slippery steps to the station and back during last January's drifts.
Neu! - Isi
Is it me or is there a touch of Dirk Wears White Sox meets Little Drummer Boy about Seeland
So far I've only got Neu! 75 - so any recommendations on where else to dip into the Krautrockers catalogue would be much appreciated

Funky Friday - Schläger Top

For today's rummage around der Welt of Germanic shenanigans and Teutonic rockers , we won’t be rooting through the well documented and commendable end of sweaty basements and bierkellers - kindergartens to the sixties beat boomers. Or the Vorsprung durch Technik of Kraftwerk, Can and Neu! Not even a peep at one of the finest live music shows ever Beat Club/Music Laden - why did this TOTP meets OGWT format always draw out such punchy performances from the rock aristocracy of Bowie, Roxy Music, T.Rex, Tina Turner and umm The Sweet.
Nein! Friday's kitsch and kooky doings are a vier-way variation on the frothy pop option known as Schläger. Now - Mach Schau!
