It may sound strange, but Tony Curtis as Danny Wilde in The Persuaders was one of my earliest heroes and influences. It was the snappy chat and fancy togs that did it. I begged mum to get me a pair of kiddie driving gloves: velcro straps and knuckle cut-outs, some pretend leather trousers (beige the same colour seen here) and a yellow and blue suede suit as part of my Danny Wilde dressing-up gear.
The magic's still there. We spotted a Persuaders Ferrari Dino in the local Broadway a couple of weeks ago - I'm no petrol-head, but what a moment, the ol' ticker went up a gear instantly.
Anyway enough of my ol' guff and nonsense - let's raise glass for Bernard Schwartz. Another legend lost...
Killer Wattz - The Persuaders
Check the gloves....
There's a fine and dandy Persuaders blog here - if you fancy a peep

There goes another great pub quiz question: whose real name was Bernard Schwartz?
Saw him on the TV not so long ago - he didn't look good sadly.
There's always the Starsky and Hutch car one John?
Always had the chat though didn't he F-Ron.
Can anyone remember when the Persuaders aired - was it Friday evenings or Sunday tea-times. Both ring a bell with me?
So cool, witty & creative. He looked really frail last year on TV: time to go :O(
Another gap in my experience - I've never seen The Persuaders. Must sort that one out!
And, let's not forget Tony's great work in "The Return of Stoney Curtis" on The Flintstones.
Possibly the last of a dying breed. It's SUCH a shame. I too was a massive fan of The Persuaders, but the opening credits is as deep as I dare to go these days..
I fear that, as those images seem to hint, the 44 year old me will recognise it as the old tosh it surely was...
Word Verification: bumilkar. How dare you?!
All true Cusp - he had a twinkle in his eye and a rhythm to his banter. And love those outfits in The Persuaders: double breasted jackets with scarves, super-cool leather jackets and all with gloves..
It's probably a bit dry and dated now Cocktails, but worth it for the dress sense, banter and early star-spotting: Joan Collins, Lionel Blair, Joss Ackland, Kate O'Mara
Stoney Curtis - fab! Missed that one Mushi.
VS - you've got to revisit even as a tribute to Tony. Why not work your way through the top rated ones here. The highest scoring one 'Powerswitch' stars Lionel Blair as Quinn Travis (didn't he do Streets of San Francisco) - guess what his job is?
His Cary Grant impersonation in Some LIke It Hot was spot on.
