Funky Friday - Pop Art and Kinky Boots
Following on from Mick's bit of bubblegum blogging I've been inspired to post a pair of sweet-tooth booties, built around two Velvet Underground numbers.
Lou and Andy's band (not those two from Little Britain) may seem like the last lot on earth to ever make a Funky Friday appearance, but when the Willy Wonka of pick 'n' mix pop Mark Vidler sets to work, pure gold is often spun from the unlikeliest of ingredients...
You may have swift shrift for Christina Ag's warblings, or perhaps minimal interest in the Velvet's catalogue - but whisk them together, add sprinkles, sparkles and a dash of The Communards to the closing coda - and it's almost impossible to resist the lip-smacking sugar rush of this pure pop cocktail - something that sounds like a long lost summer single from the seventies..
Go Home Productions - Girl Wants To Say Goodbye
And what's this - Waiting For The Man, Sugar Sugar and a splash of Basement Jaxx shaken and spun into something sweeter than candyfloss - well I never!

...And the sun's come out! Don't know about you, but I'm off down the beach (really AM!).
Mmm, I'm afraid that not even the genius that is Mark Vidler can make that Christine Aguilera song work for me.
The second track is ace though! Wish I was going to beach...
Candy Says: First one swings!
ISB - Brighton beach is the place to be on a day like today - a mate of mine went to the naturist beach there, and a saw a 'heavyset' lady walking along unaware a pebble had become lodged between both cheeks - honest!
Cocktails the second is a rocker, but I'm with Davy on the first one - it's peachy, and that moment when The Communards kick in..
*faints from fizzy pop overload*
Wow! These are great. They really put me in a good mood. I really dig the second one. It's got me bouncing all around here. Cheers!
That 'heavyset' lady on the nudist beach HAS to be the one known as 'Letitia'. A famously unbashful self-publicising 'working lady', despite being well into her sixties. If that pebble had dropped from between her ample cheeks, you'd probably have found her price list engraved on it. She doesn't miss a trick.
The beachfront bars are packed! As my visiting buddy said, "doesn't anyone do any work in this place?"
I've got a ton of booty remixes Keith - you can catch any you may have missed here ...
There's a few characters like that round Southend way ISB, York Road, just behind The Kursall is where you'd catch them - I think you've got the better beach out of the two though
don't want to be picky but with st david's day and all that isn't it Andy and Johns band! I know it ruins the pun. Will have good listen when I get in and to your Northern mix. Not sure people from flatlands should be doing this sort of thing ;-) have a good weekend
you're right about a northen influence BL I made it in the middle of reading Pies and Prejudice , so must have had a subconcious influence..
PS John Cale's Black Acetate from a few years back is a belter of an album..
Well. I really like the first tune, but then I really like Christina's voice, and own several of her tunes from over the years. Aint No Other Man is quite simply class.
Oh and PM, that other tune? The other one. Right up my street. Most definitely.
I've got some belting 'R n B' based bootys Simon, even one using a Cure tune - I'll have to dig it out..
Oh, and Cold Game - what a winner isn't it.
