Last of the Summer Finds

How's your blog-list doing? In the two years I've been maintaining my online allotment, (which I was convinced would run out of puff after a few months). I've really not blogged any of my most played faves (Small Faces, The Faces, Rod, Bowie, Bolan, Roxy, The Damned, XTC, John Martyn and countless comps). The trouble is - there's just too many many oldies, oddities, obscurities or tasty tit-bits of newness be logging.

Like - If This Ain't Love - a track that's been rattling about on my MP3 player for several months now, and a seasonally summery song that I'll squeeze in before the shadows get to long, the wasps get too giddy and grumpy (is it me or has there really been more of them this year?)

I only realised while pulling this post together, it's the same Nicole WillisCocktails posted about some while back

Swingin'. If been enjoying this very much since your tip about it recently, in fact.

Wasps? Hundreds of the buggers, all getting in the house then bashing up against the windows trying to get out again.

Lovely nests though.

like that... not my normal stuff but excellently done

But did you buy the album?! It's fabulous. Go out and buy it now everyone!

Yes Ma'am!

Had one in Mum Mondo's loft years ago Davy- a little old man in tweeds turned up, slipped into an Apollo style space suit, then smoked the buggers out using fifty foot pole - bizarre but a marvellous spectator sport

You should try Friday's Muddy Water track F -Ron. It could be your kinda cover.

Not yet Cocktails - but it's on the list. The last two buys were the Island Folk Box, and Island Reggae Box after catching the Island story last Friday

Wow. I love that. Great video and song. That really made my Tuesday. I had a crappy Monday. They usually are crappy. lol This was a wonderful way to start off a new day.

That's new to me and I like it a lot. I specially like the bit where the drums kick in at about 30 seconds - very Motown! To be honest my mind was beginning to wander but that part pulled me back in.

...and wasps? I got stung last week for the first time in almost 40 years and it didn't hurt half as much as I expected/remembered.

Glad it's put a bounce in your boots Keith - I had a blazing hangover all weekend if that helps..

Peachy isn't it Mick - we had a hornet land on our fence last week. A hornet - yikes!

Think I'll reduce Mick to a link BL, rather than an embed - he's just too intrusive..

Great song and video Mondo!!! Thank you so much for sharing... gotta tell you it's possibly my most favorite of all your 'single' song shares. Perfectly fits my end of summer blues somehow.

Also, thank you for the museum link. I think Tina's work would fit in there nicely perhaps? :)

Glad you enjoyed it Gabbi - I chucked a few summer specials in last year, if you fancy getting the full set

Like what Cocktails said: everybody must get "Keep Reachin' Up", it's one of the most consistently ace albums I've heard in the last however long.

Know what you mean about not bloggin the obvious.... 2 years in not touched my favourite band (The Damned) other than a live review, not touched my favourite singer (Bowie), my favourite gal (Bettie Page)... like you say, new stuff keeps popping up. I will get round to it one day tho.

It's on the list Artog - defo!

Crazy isn't P, I keep adding bits-to-blog in my mp3 'Blog' playlist (over 700 tracks now, although most aren't blogged ) and none of which are most played faves.

I second (or is that third?) Cocktails' comments above. Everybody buy this album! You won't regret it...

Like the video too. I think there's a lot to be said for videos which show the musicians playing their instruments and the singer singing, rather than a lot of "interpretative" hokum.

And who knew that the Soul Investigators were such a lot of nerdy-looking white blokes?

I've just seen it's five earth pounds 'new or used' on Amazon Hoops - I'm on it right now

Cocktails said...

Hooray, you'll love it!

And if any of you ever have the opportunity to see her live, go - she and the nerdy white blokes are brilliant.
