Tronik Tagging and Blog Meetings

Had a hook-up with Miss Ally and the boy Tronik last week for the Carnaby Street Christmas switcheroo - which, unfortunately, was all a bit Austin Powers in places and had poor ol' Eddie Pillar press-ganged into playlisting sixties hits instead of his usual purist tunes - meaning more time was spent in the pub than at the parade "What a shame" they chorused.

Banter about a possible blog-meet has been buzzing around the blogs since, with the idea of a pre-Christmas/post-new year snifter. So if you're based in London/South East/prepared-to-travel-further and fancy a Bloggers of the World Unite scoop or two, drop me a line at Planetmondo@gmail.com

Oh, and I've been tagged by Chocolate Girl, with the rules that...

1. You have to post a song that makes you happy.
2. You can tag as many people as you want, there is no limit.
3. Say at least one thing about each blog you tag, that will make them smile, something nice about their blog that makes you smile when you read it!

1 - I'm posting my brother's latest single (and vid' which he produced too) - available here, .

Tronik Youth - Disko Suks On Beatport

and wouldn't this Tronik tee make a perfect Christmas stocking-filler.

2/3 - I'm tagging Piley, as we haven't had one of his peachy pop treats for a while, and I'm keen to see what randomness (or Podrophenia outtakes) lurk in the crates.

Gather Round For Rumors

One of the tracks used in this winter collection was Gabe Durham's beautifully blended Beatles and Sufjan Stevens tune Yoko in Idaho a gentle melter that fitted the mood of the mix. Last week Gabe unveiled Rigid Rumors a set of eleven similar remixes that are more musical chairs than mashups and somewhere Radiohead bustle about with Dave Brubeck and Simon and Garfunkel, where The Swell Season, Sufjan Stevens, Biodome 5 get bounced around in bootleg blender. With a rock 'n' roll call which reads like this..

15 step, Andrew Bird, Animal Collective, Beck, Ben Folds, Beyonce, Big Poppa, Biggie Smalls, Biodome 5, Bjork, Blind Melon, Cake, Daft Punk, Damien Rice, Dave Brubeck Quartet, David Garza, David Gray, Ella Fitzgerald, Glen Phillips, Going Back To Cali, Goldspot, Idaho, John Lennon, Josh Ritter, Kanye West, The Klaxons, LCD Soundsystem, M.I.A., Madonna, Margot and the Nuclear So & So's, Medulla, Morning Bell, Morris Brown, Not, Notorious B.I.G., Of Montreal, Once Soun, Once Soundtrack, Outkast, Paper Planes, Pavarti Khan, Radiohead, Rilo Kiley, Show Me Forgiveness, Simon and Garfunkel, Sonnets, Spirit of Shackleton, Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, The Arcade Fire, The Beatles, The Decemberists, The Mountain Goats, The National, The Proclaimers, The Swell Season, The Travelling Wilburys, The Waifs, The Wrens, They Might Be Giants, This Used To Be My Playground, TV on the Radio, Volcano, Wednesday Night Worship, When Your Mind's Made Up, Wilco

What is Bocca Di Lupo ?

It's Italian for 'the wolf's mouth' apparently. And, also the name of The Wolfmen's mighty new blog making it's maiden voyage in cyberspace today, loaded with news, interviews and an early doors demo

Why not prowl on over and have a peep right here Bocca Di Lupo

Although if you're sensitive soul (or a raving Royalist), probably best to give it a swerve, as you may find the tale of a former Ants guitarist's carry-ons with a portrait of the Queen, which landed him (literally) with a broken wrist - mid Ant's tour, possibly a bit jarring.

Blogbuster - Gather Round For New Booties

I'm a terror for a bootleg remix - especially if it's based round The Beatles, Beastie Boys or both. There's something about these home made hybrids, and bits of bastard pop that's never lost the gloss for me. Finding shiny new booties fresh out of the box is a rare treat. Luckily there's two full free albums worth over at - Gather Round Children.

'For the Beasties in the Burroughs, For the Beatles in Britain'
- Booties featuring The Beach Boys, Beck, The Editors, The Supremes

'Good News For People Who Love to Get Krunk'
- The voices of Outkast over the music of Modest Mouse.

Why not taste test these two booty beauties

You're a Rich Man, Baby, Thus Favored By Santa

Set Me Free, Chorus of Chicagoans_ Why Don’t You.

And then nip over to Gather Round Children and fill your boots with the full set of goodies.

Also - you really should have a peep at Funky 16 Corners recent post
Doing The Banana Split. (Yes - as in that show)

It's a spectacular slice of Saturday morning soul - but the brain jolting thing is it’s written by Barry White!!!! (Yes - as in that 'Walrus of Love')
