H is For....

Bowie's barnets - missing the classic T J Newton do though

Happy 65th birthday (belatedly) to ol' blue/brown eyes himself David Bowie - continuing with the riff of H, what a run of great haircuts he's paraded through the ages..

Why H? Because tonight we unwrap chapter 8 of the Podrophonic Alphabet. The hooting-tooting harmonica honking of Wes Weston. Happiness (the Pursuit of) and a funky Monkees cover from Hubert Laws and his Royal Bowieness are amongst a handful of the hits and highlights you can expect to hear live from 9 on tonight's Radio Podrophenia. Where Piley and I are joined in the bunker by King of the Jingles - Phil Hubbard.

Tune your ears and internet to Chance Radio from 9..

A few related rarities for your Bowie browsing

The Freddy Buretti version of Hang On to Yourself

One unreleased Springsteen cover from the Young Americans sessions

David Bowie - It's Hard to be a Saint in the City

And a Ziggy-era cover by Belfast punks Victim - with Rat Scabies pushing the production buttons..

What say you to the old rumour that when they were filming the 'Jazzing for Blue Jean' video (not his finest moment), and he was unwound from his turban, his hairpiece came off with it and shot across the floor like a ferret?

I never wanted to believe it, but some of those 80s coiffures looked awfully 'syrupy'...

Blimey - I'd never thought of that, but he has always had exceptionally good hair - unlike his dad. So could be something sus going on up top

There's a great piece on those 80s outfits here, although never rated his John Pertwee bouffant from back then though

Oh my word, that Serious Moonlight coiff made him look like Nick Beggs crossed with Noelle Gordon. A shocker! I was at one of those Milton Keynes gigs and hated every minute of it....

Yes me too - I was at the Friday gig. With The Beat and Icehouse supporting? Did you ever catch the North of Watford (10:30 on ITV)programme - they did a Bowie at the Bowl special..mostly the Sunday show with a girl sunbathing starkers. I've got it on VHS somewhere..

Hrumph! I was there on the Sunday. With my recently- ex-boyfriend. His drooling response to that shameless madam was the final nail in our 'let's stay friends' coffin.

Incredible - did you spot yourself on any of the South of Watford footage..

I've been surfing online greater than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's lovely price sufficient for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did, the web will be much more helpful than ever before.
